Nineteen of Medvedev's 21 victories have been earned on hardcourt

A resurgent Daniil Medvedev claimed his first trophy for nearly 30 months with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the competition title decider.

The athlete, a ex- world number one, has experienced a torrid period, managing just one win at the major tournaments and suffering a setback at the American major.

The player's inconsistency on the professional circuit - and issues with his serving in specific - led to him falling of the top ten and eventually parting ways with former mentor Cervara.

Now working with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, the tennis star has gradually improved in the past month - culminating in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over Frenchman Moutet.

This marks his initial title following the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hardcourt from March of the previous year.

Success also indicates the Russian has secured twenty-one championships at 21 distinct events.

"It's the first time I am participating in a tournament with my two daughters together, so to get a title is especially meaningful," said tennis professional Medvedev.

"This victory is in dedication of my younger daughter my daughter, because the first title I got when my older daughter her name was born was for her."

Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his past six title deciders, featuring in that event in the past months.

His counter-punching strategy and recurring emotional displays on the playing surface had led some to question if his skill to perform at the highest level was finished.

However the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the past month, striving to approach the net and perform aggressively, reinforced by an better serving game.

He fought back from a disadvantage in the first set against the difficult opponent, winning 4 of the last five games to take the lead.

The competitors exchanged break points in the following set before Moutet, attempting for his initial tour title, seized the initiative to force a final set.

He rescued 4 early-game opportunities in a tight final set before the champion broke to that score to serve for the match.

Suitably, Medvedev clinched victory with a rally at the net, with his opponent incapable to manage a volley after a lengthy match.
